Terri Ivins

Terri started sailing in college when she attended St. Mary's College of Maryland. She joined the St. Mary's College Sailing Team racing 420s. Inspired by a professor who lived aboard, she made the decision to someday buy a boat and live aboard.

In 2010, Terri embarked on the journey to buy a live-aboard cruising boat. As Terri recalls, the experience was rushed and confusing. Those teaching and organizational skills came in handy years later when Terri became a yacht broker while working as a middle school teacher. Terri vowed to educate and explain the boat buying and selling process to her clients. Her 24/7 work ethic, combined with honesty, integrity, and commitment to customer experience, made Terri a successful yacht broker.

In early 2024, Terri decided to grow her business and start Adventure Yacht Sales, focusing on helping clients make their adventures become reality. She opened her office in Stuart and quickly expanded to the Carolinas and the Chesapeake.

Terri sold her first Island Packet and purchased an Island Packet 380 to keep in the Chesapeake where she spends the summer. She recently purchased a completely refit 1993 Island Packet 29 that survived a hurricane. Legacy represents Terri's affinity for legacy Island Packets and serves as command central for Adventure Yacht Sales in Stuart, FL.

Terri is active in the Seven Seas Cruising Association and Women Who Sail. She is a US Sailing Instructor and holds a USCG 100-ton Masters license. She splits her time between Solomons in the Chesapeake and Stuart, Florida.
